Land Rover Defender 130 Confirmed
A larger version of the Land Rover Defender has been in the rumor mill ever since a leaked document confirmed its existence back in 2019. Now, the iconic British SUV maker has confirmed that it does have a new three-row Defender in the works and that it could be headed to North America.
Automotive News Europe reports that Land Rover confirmed the Defender 130 during a discussion call between investors and JLR chief financial officer Adrian Mardell in February this year. The top-ranking JLR exec is quoted as saying that the “Defender 130 will hit a sweet spot in North America, China, and the Middle East.”
What’s going to be different?

Nicknamed the Land Rover 130, the biggest of the Defender lineup will seat seven passengers in a body that is roughly 201 inches longer than the two-row 2021 Defender V8 90. This makes it about the same overall length as the other big utes, the likes of the Cadillac Escalade and the GMC Yukon.
According to the leaked document, the upcoming Defender 130 will share the same wheelbase 119-inch wheelbase as the Defender 110, but its overall length will be increased by around 201 inches, and that it could seat as many as eight passengers.

What will power the three-row Defender?
If you’re wondering what powertrains the Defender 130 will get. Well, as of now there’s no word on that, but it won’t be surprising to see the entry-level P300 4-cylinder engine or the recently announced supercharged V8 powering the Defender V8 under the hood of the three-row Defender. The launch date and other details too are yet unknown.
